By the mid 1950s, Hertz had a fleet of over 28,000 vehicles - including around 15,500 trucks. Hertz expanded throughout the twentieth century and in 2012, Hertz Global Holdings bought the Dollar-Thrifty Automotive Group. This resulted in Hertz Global Holdings having a combined 10,400 locations in around 150 countries. Today, Hertz is one of North America’s largest car rental agencies, and is the second largest car rental agency in the US.
