Traveling to Ahmedabad from Chicago is best done by plane: with a distance of over 7,700 miles between the two cities, all other methods of transport would take multiple days, if not weeks. By comparison, flights are available with a duration of just over 18 hours with one stop along the route. Airlines such as Air India, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Air Canada and Turkish Airlines operate flights between Chicago and Ahmedabad. From Chicago, flights depart from O'Hare International Airport; in Ahmedabad, the arrival airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The city of Ahmedabad is located in the west Indian state of Gujarat; it is intersected by the Sabarmati River. A fast growing city, it is also the largest in Gujarat and was once its capital. Some of Ahmedabad's best known visitor attractions include the Sabarmati Ashram, in which Gandhi lived during part of India's Independence Movement; the architecturally striking Jama Masjid; and the Calico Museum of Textiles, which holds a large collection of Indian textiles. Kankaria Lake is also well worth a visit, with parks, entertainment options and children's activities to enjoy.
