Kauai Island is one of Hawaii’s best-kept secrets, but it looks like the secret is out! Start searching for flights to Kauai, a beautiful tropical paradise, onboard Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and American Airlines. Flights touch down at Lihue Airport (LIH).
All of Hawaii’s islands have similar climates and Kauai is no exception. The southwestern coast is sunny, dry and typically the best place to find a sandy beach, while the northeastern side is covered in rain forests. It’s warm here year-round but summer and fall tend to be the driest. Book your flights to Kauai at least 6 months in advance for the cheapest fares.
A flight to Kauai from New York takes 12 hours with a layover.
Kauai is the epitome of a tropical paradise. From the emerald-green peaks of the Na Pali Coast to the sunny beaches of Po’ipu, from the painted walls of the Waimea Canyon to the foggy mountains of Hanalei. Traditional culture lives on here and you won’t find a town with more than 10,000 people in it. This is your chance to taste true Hawaii.
Waimea Canyon: The lookout point over Waimea Canyon is just incredible. The colors are just like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, changing with the light from burnt orange to periwinkle purple. You can hike and camp here at Koke’e State Park.
Na Pali Coast: You may recognize this place from a number of films, including Jurassic Park. Its sheer cliffs and secluded beaches make it one of the most popular spots on the island. Take a hike along the coast or hire a boat to reach some of the more secluded beaches.
Beaches: We’ve already mentioned the beaches along the Na Pali Coast but you can find great beaches just about everywhere in Kauai. Snorkeling, swimming, surfing and sunbathing are visitor’s top priorities! Sea kayaking is also possible when the surf is calm.
