Experience Bali: sights, tours and activities

Bali is more than just a tropical island in Indonesia. It evokes a feeling of paradise, a state of mind that already makes the tension in your shoulders disappear. Soak up the culture at a Hindu temple, spend your days lazing about the beach, and let your cares run away with a Balinese massage.

Essentials in Bali

Temples: Some of Bali’s most popular attractions are its Hindu temples. It is law that each village have at least three temples so you can imagine there are thousands on the island. One of the most important ones is the “mother temple” of Besakih on Mount Agung. Be sure to bring along a sarong and sash to wear when visiting.

Beaches: Bali has plenty of beautiful beaches. The north coast and Jimbaran Bay are the best for swimming and sunbathing. In all cases, look out for swimming safety markers just in case. Black sand is the norm here but you can find some pretty white sand beaches in the south.

Wellness and Spas: Bali is heaven on earth for spa lovers! A Balinese lulur body scrub with locals herbs will totally relax you after your Balinese massage. Ubud and Seminyak are home to the best yoga centers in the world, a great way to relax while on vacation in Bali.

Hotels and accommodation in Bali

As far as hotels in Indonesia go, Bali has the best range for visitors. Budget travelers tend to stay at hostels in Kuta (just don’t stay at one next to a nightclub!), while 5* resorts are located closer to Nusa Dua, Seminyak and Ubud. For something in the middle, try a Bali hotel in Jimbaran or Sanur. No matter where you stay, make sure you book it in advance during peak travel season.
