The travel and tourism industry are opening its doors to man’s best friend, knowing that it’s just as important to treat the dog well as it is the human guest. After all, dogs need a vacation too!
For pet owners the worst thing about going on vacation is the moment you say goodbye to your pet. Those puppy dog eyes remain in the back of your mind for the whole vacation period, popping up every so often to remind you what a terrible person you are.
Hotels are now encouraging you to bring your furry best friend along for the vacation. Not only are these hotels pet-friendly but they are re-designing their hotel with pets in mind.
In Miami Beach, the 1 Hotel South Beach is building a 3,000-square-foot Bark Park for dogs, with beams, tubes and even an ‘adventure zone’ if your pet is feel particularly daring. They can also play with an unlimited supply of squeaky toys. And if that’s not enough for your canine companion to enjoy he will also receive a BarkBox upon check-in which includes a water bowl, treats and a toy.
Also in Miami is Art Deco Tours, a tour operator which welcomes well-behaved dogs and even keeps them company outside when they are not permitted in.
