A Ukrainian engineer, Vladimir Tatarenko, has invented a ‘rescue cabin’ that could increase the chances of survival in the case of a plane crash and potentially save a significant number of lives in the future.
Tatarenko’s concept involves the airplane splitting in two so that the cabin, which holds the passengers, will float down from the sky safely while the engine and cockpit plummet.
The rescue capsule will have several parachutes and boosters which provide a softer touchdown when landing on water or land.
According to Tatarenko, 95% of passengers would be willing to pay more for their airline tickets if they would be guaranteed a chance of survival in a plane crash.
