Five Jet Airways crew members have been suspended after allowing a Bollywood singer to use the in-flight announcement system for a spontaneous concert.

The incident was caught on camera, showing Bollywood star Sonu Nigam singing some of his songs on a flight from Jodpur to Mumbai. The clip went viral and prompted an investigation of the airline by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Due to the ‘violation of safety procedures’ the cabin crew were suspended by DGCA, but this wasn’t greeted with praise by the people on Twitter.

The singer has commented on the incident, saying “To suspend crew members for asking me to sing on the address system, when the seat-belt signs were off, and no announcements were to be made, is nothing less than punishing someone for spreading happiness.”
