Mayor de Blasio has proposed a tram project that would run along the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront.

The $2.5-billion tram would span the 17-mile stretch of waterfront land between Sunset Park, Brooklyn and Astoria, Queens. The exact route has not been set and they need to agree with residents living in the affected areas.

The tram will provide people traveling from Williamsburg to Long Island City and vice versa with the sufficient transport links they are currently lacking.

New York expects the start of construction to commence 2019.
