The Federal Aviation Administration announced it was downgrading Thailand’s aviation safety rating to Category 2 because the country did not meet with international standards.

This means the Thai airlines will be banned from opening new routes to the Unites States or expanding their existing routes.

Whilst this restriction currently only applies to US flight, it could potential be matched by other global aviation authorities, restricted routes to Europe or East Asia.

Thailand’s Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha, ordered an immediate overhaul of his country’s aviation systems in response to the downgrade.
