Qatar Airways have announced plans to introduce the world’s longest direct flight from Doha to Auckland.
The new ultra-long haul flight will be 9,034 miles in total and would take an estimated 18 hours and 34 minutes, but it is not known when the airline would plan to start the service.
Qatar CEO Akbar Al Baker revealed their plans to Bloomberg Business in an interview at Bahrain Sir Show.
They plan to use Boeing 777-LR aircraft for the new route which will be able to carry 259 passengers.
Currently the longest flight is operated by Qantas and flies between Dallas-Fort Worth and Sydney and stands at 16 hours and 55 minutes.
