It’s the stuff of movies but this week it became a reality: a baby was born mid-flight, on a Cebu Pacific service from Dubai to the Philippines!
Now, the airline has given the baby girl – named Haven – a pretty awesome gift: 1 million air miles, which is more or less a lifetime of free flights!
5 hours into the flight, the expectant mother began having contractions around 32 weeks ahead of her due date. Fortunately, there were two nurses on board and the baby was able to be delivered, before the plane made an unscheduled landing in India to ensure both mother and daughter were able to receive medical attention.
For Cebu Pacific, it marks the first ever birth on board one of their flights. In a statement posted on their website, the airline offered their congratulations and wrote “We are happy that both mother and daughter are doing well”. They also offered baby Haven 1 million loyalty points – which means she’s pretty much set for free flights for life!
Fellow passenger Missy Berberabe Umandal provided an account of the birth on Facebook, writing that “we’re lucky to witness this miracle”.
