Beating out competition from cities including London, Paris and New York, Bangkok has taken the top spot as the world’s most popular destination!
According to the MasterCard Index of Global Destination Cities, the Thai capital is the most visited of the 132 cities considered in the study, welcoming 21.47 million international overnight visitors in the past year.
April – the month of Thailand’s new year, celebrated by a national water fight – and January were peak months for visitors. Bangkok has seen increasing growth in recent years, offering a wide variety of attractions for visitors to the city. Stunning temples, Thai cooking classes, floating markets and a vibrant nightlife all contribute to the city’s reputation as a hot destination to visit!
Taking second place is London, whilst Paris is in third. Dubai (4th place) and New York (5th) complete the top five.
