Airport food offers in the past has often revolved around convenience and consisted of some foil wrapped fast food or a slab of pizza.

According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine almost 71% of major US airport restaurants have at least one plant based/ vegan meal option.

Now in its 14th year, the annual Airport Food Review has ranked the airports by dividing the number of available restaurants by the number the number that had at least one healthy item on their menu (excluding side dishes, breakfast menu, coffee shops, snack bars and grab-and-go kiosks.)

The winner for 2015 is Los Angeles International airport, where 44 of 49 restaurants served food that met the healthy criteria standard set by the committee.
