The Stanley Hotel in Colorado, the hotel which inspired Stephen King’s The Shining, has released plans to host the Stanley Film Center.

The Stanley Hotel opened in 1909 and by the 1970s gained a reputation of being haunted. Stephen King revived the interest in The Stanley Hotel and its paranormal activity.

The film center would include a horror-themed museum, an auditorium, traveling exhibits and production space.

The project will cost $24 million to create; $11.5 million of the total amount has been requested from Colorado tourism funding.

The Stanley Film Center would operate as a public-private partnership, Simon Pegg and Elijah Wood have been rumored to be on the board of directors.
