Thai Smile Airways will now allow passengers to purchase seats for life-like dolls that are believed to have supernatural powers. Not only will the airline sell their owners a child flight ticket to board and sit on the plane, but the airline also promise to treat the doll like any other child on board the flight.
The dolls are called Luk Thep, or Child Angels, which are believed to possess the spirit of child angels and if looked after well will bring good fortune to the owner. The dolls have peaked in popularity due to several celebrities endorsing their benefits. Owners have gone public with evidence of the luck the doll has brought them: such as them winning the lottery.
Owners of the dolls spend hundreds of pounds buying them, and then enjoy buying branding clothing accessories for them, to ensure they are looking their best and are been looked after well. In flight the dolls will be offered food and drink, and as with real children, they will be barred from sitting in exit rows.
If you don’t want to pay for your doll to fly in comfort, they will be treated the same as any carry-on luggage and stowed during takeoff and landing.
