The sunshine state is set to surpass its goal of welcoming 100 million visitors this year. Visit Florida reported a visitor increase in the first 6 months of 2015, swelling to a record of 54.1 million (a 5.5% increase from 2014)

In the first six months the largest numbers of visitors to the country were domestic travelers, totaling 45.7million making it an increase of 6.7% from the same period in 2014 (according to VISIT Florida’s preliminary estimates.)

Will Seccombe, president and CEO of Visit Florida, has ensured that Florida is not a passive by standing when talking about the visitor growth. A number of marketing initiatives and programs have been in place to accompany the natural increase of domestic and international interest in Florida. Marketing funds have been pumped into the state’s less known attractions, transforming and expanding people’s existing view and outlook. No longer is Florida just known for its theme parks and its beaches, but also its skate parks, art and culture, history and beautiful small towns.
