After a long battle with animal rights activists, politicians and animal lovers, the president and chief exec of Seaworld, Joel Manby, has confirmed 2017 will be the last year of their controversial killer whale shows.

Major criticism peaked two years ago when a documentary about the dangers and cruelty of keeping whales in captivity was released theatrically and aired on CNN multiple times.

The orca shows will be replaced by a new ‘orca experience’ beginning in 2017, that will a more natural setting and would carry a ‘conservation message inspiring people to act’ according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

So if you want to see a more ethical Seaworld, book your cheap flights to San Diego commencing 2017.
