American’s know how to throw a Halloween party, so it’s no surprise that the best haunted houses are located in the US. We’ve listed some of our favorite haunts this Halloween.
Are you too old for trick or treating and looking for something that is more Nightmare on Elm Street, and less Hocus Pocus … if so the Haunted House is for you. There’s plenty of haunted houses dotted all over America, some of them are world renowned so you can totally justify buying a cheap flight ticket for the holidays. Here are our favorites …
Pennhurst Asylum, Pennsylvania
Located in Spring City, the hospital themed walk thru attraction which features many artifacts that were part of the original state school. Set in a building which dates back to 1908, the added digital sound, projection, realistic props and committed actors make the whole experience impossible to forget and ridiculously easy to get completely lost and immersed in.
There’s four attractions: Pennhurst Asylum, The Dungeon of Lost Souls, The Tunnel Terror and Ghost Hunt.
The final attraction Ghost Hunt is a self guided tour, armed with only a flash light , guests are free to wander the dormitory and find the spirits on their own.
The 13th Gate, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Are you brave enough to pass through all 13 gates?
Prepare yourself for some incredible detail in the production, adding ulta-realism to the whole experience. The actors clearly love their jobs as they are completely dedicated to making you scream out loud.
The attraction includes: a real snake-infested Louisiana Swamp, nightly voodoo shows, claustrophobic cellars, hidden subterranean passages and even a prehistoric ice cave.
Netherworld, Atlanta
Netherworld Haunted House is a walk-through dark attraction which is known for its over-the-top special effects. On top of this the well crafted makeup, talented actors, elaborate costume and chilling detail are always often praised for being world class.
Their attraction Vault 13 unearthed tells the story of The Mangler, who created an artificial intelligence called PROTEUS which found a living body to inhabit and take revenge on the human race for their misgivings towards him. Mixing sci-fi with horror – you’ll never want to participate in an experiment again. This is not recommended for young children – which means you know it is going to be good.
