The New York Times recently released a list of the top 52 travel destination for 2016, the list concentrated on up and coming corners of the world and bypassed the more obvious destinations.
Three US states made the top 20 destination: Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Dakota), Park City (Utah) and Grand Rapids (Michigan.)
Grand Rapids came in 20th place, its pioneering design work highlighted the city as a must see as it champions urban renewal and art. In early 20th-century furniture companies Herman and Steelcase established a creative community in Grand Rapids which is still present today thanks to a confluence of urban revival and art funding.
Park City Mountain Resort ranked 12th in the listing, and has been picked for its skiing facilities and is promoted as ‘most skiable terrain open in America’. This winter Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort have merged to become the nation’s largest ski resort – which is now called Park City.
If you’re looking for a skiing destination for some cool winter sports take The New York Times advice and book a cheap flight to Utah.
