International Women’s Day is just around the corner and to celebrate, Air India has operated an all-female flight on a round the world trip.
On Monday February 27, an all female flight crew left New Delhi, India for San Francisco. They then continued their trip around the globe by returning to New Delhi over the Atlantic Ocean (their outbound journey saw them travel over the Pacific).
The journey sees the airline make history – and it wasn’t just the on board crew who were entirely female. Ground staff working on the flight were also all women, including the technicians, engineers and auditors involved in the operation.

In a statement on the airline’s Facebook page, Air India wrote that “AI 174 touched down Delhi this evening adding yet another feather to Air India’s cap in its constant endeavour to encourage women.”
