When it comes to choosing which airline to fly with, in today’s travel friendly world we’re often spoilt for choice. The Points Guy has made that choice a little simpler, releasing its first ever ranking of airlines across the U.S.
Travel advice website The Points Guy has compiled a ranking of ten airlines across the U.S. to find out which is best for domestic travel. Focusing on objective data, a number of factors were taken into account when putting together the ratings.
Airfare and extra fees (bag and change) were the first to be taken into consideration: while there’s an abundance of ultra low cost airlines offering cheap fares across the country, extra fees can often bump the price of a flight way up.
Factors affecting convenience, such as on time arrivals and cabin comfort, were considered as well as customer satisfaction and incidence of lost baggage.
After crunching the numbers, the results are in! From best to worst, check out this ranking of 10 domestic airlines:
1. Alaska Airlines
2. United
3. Virgin America
4. jetBlue
5. American Airlines
6. Southwest
7. Delta
8. Hawaiian Airlines
9. Frontier Airlines
10. Spirit Airlines
Placing at the bottom of four categories, Spirit Airlines unsurprisingly lost points for its luggage policy. It came first in terms of airfare, though – so if you’re after super cheap flights and don’t mind compromising it could be the airline to go to.
