This week we continue our run down of the best rooftop bars in the world – after New York, it’s time to put the spotlight on Paris and share the 5 best terraces in the French capital.
Some say that Paris is even more beautiful when viewed from above. We’ll leave that for you to decide, although with a drink in your hand and the warm summer breeze to cool you down at one of the city’s rooftop bars we think the answer’s clear! Drinks come at a premium but with a stunning view over the city’s rooftops and the hill of Montmartre in the background it’s easy to forget the higher prices. On your next trip to Paris, head to one of these rooftop bars – you won’t regret it.
Le Perchoir
Hidden on the top floor of a building on Crespin du Gast street, le Perchoir is pretty much the standard for rooftop bars in Paris. A discrete entrance gives way to a rooftop oasis with gorgeous 360 degree views. Reservation is essential for the restaurant, which is on the penultimate floor of the building. You can show up at the bar without calling ahead – just don’t arrive too late if you want to get a table!

Le Georges
Located on the last floor of the Georges Pompidou center you’ll find Le Georges, a French fusion restaurant with an industrial chic interior. Situated in the heart of Paris, you can enjoy views which are hard to beat – the prices match its awesome position, but it’s well worth the trip, if only for a drink if you’re on a budget.

Nüba
Atop the Cité de la Mode et du Design, a futuristic looking building dedicated to cutting edge fashion and design right on the bank of the River Seine, stands an impressive open air space which has functioned as a bar-club combo for a few years now: Nüba. With an eclectic design, relaxed atmosphere and stunning panoramic views over Paris the space offers a unique charm. Come for chilled out drinks in the evening, or to party the night away.

Le Top (Point Ephémère)
Every summer since 2015, le Top takes over the rooftop of the Point Ephémère, a former warehouse which is now an artistic hub offering live music, graffiti covered walls and a great location on the banks of the canal Saint-Martin. With an altogether more relaxed vibe and affordable prices to match, space is limited – so call ahead before settling in to enjoy the view.

Le Zyriad
This restaurant can be found on the last floor of the Arab World Institute in the fifth arrondissement. Its location offers an amazing vista over the city, including a breath-taking perspective of Notre-Dame. Libyan caterer Noura is at the culinary helm: a meal at Zyriad, or simply a refreshing cocktail, is a great way to round off a day’s sightseeing. If you find yourself at the Arab World Institute, head to the terrace if only for that view!
