Art lovers and Vincent Van Gogh fans have the opportunity to spend a night in a replica of ‘his bedroom’.
The Art Institute of Chicago decorated a one-bedroom apartment to look like Van Gogh’s painting of his bedroom in the south of France and listed it on Airbnb.
The room in Chicago’s River North neighborhood differs from the original 1888 painted version slightly, it has been decked out with Internet, TV, Wi-Fi and a washer/dryer; so you get the 19th century experience with the ‘necessities’ of modern life.
The Airbnb ad reads, “This room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting,” the Airbnb advert states. “It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colours, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.”
At only $10 a night, the cheap dates filled up within minutes. Guests will also get tickets to the Art Institute’s “Van Gogh’s Bedrooms” exhibition which opens Sunday and runs until May 10.
More openings will be announced on the Art Institute’s social media channels.
