After 76 years, US Airways is retiring as part of a 2013 merger with American Airlines. The final US Airways flight landed in Philadelphia on Saturday.

With it, 6,700 flights daily, more than 100,000 employees and a few variations of the Airways name.

The aptly named Flight 1939 departed Philadelphia heading to Charlotte, Phoenix and then San Francisco. On the journey back the flight attendant announced ‘Thank you for joining us on the very last US Airways flight. We look forward to making new memories with you on American Airlines.’

The merging of airlines is nothing new. Fourteen years ago there were 10 major airlines, now they’ve merged into four: American, Delta, Southwest and United.
